Chad Gould: former Azkal and current England Beach Soccer squad member.

Chad Gould with NT kit
It has been awhile since we had seen Chad Gould playing for the Philippine national team. January 16th 2010 in Taiwan for a friendly against the Chinese Taipei team to be precise. He went in at the 81st minute to replace Ian Araneta. In the end, the match remained tied at 0-0. I'm a new Philippine national team fan, to be honest, I'd say about a year and some change. So finding out about good player before my time intrigued me. With the help of a few cohorts from usapangfootball.proboards.com I endeavored to find out as much as I can of his career with the NT and his last hurrah with soccer teams in England.

Here's what I know(and yes I've been told it's not much): His last soccer  team in England was AFC Wimbeldon in the 2007/2008 season. At that time it was in the Isthmian league premier division, a 7th tier division in the English soccer system. For comparison, our beloved center back, current scout/European liaison, Rob Gier, plays in the 9th tier! Anyhow, Chad played for Wimbeldon until Sept 21 2008(for reasons unclear to me). He made a total of 8 appearances with the club, scored 4 goals and if you wanna be technical, received 2 Yellow cards.

Though gone from the leagues in England, he continued to play for the Philippine NT for two more years. His last international goal was in a game against Bhutan on April 14th 2009 in an edition of the AFC Challenge Cup. By the way, the goal was made in the 13th minute and was the winning goal to boot!

Although, Chad tried to make a come back early this year, there were much talk about his match fitness in various soccer forums and also his unlucky insect bite! Yes, the ubiquitous mosquito crushed his comeback plans. Don't believe me? Here, it'd be funny if it wasn't so sad:

So where is he and what's he doing now? Apparently he is quite successful with his band(along with  cousin), Redgrave

He is also part of the 20 man national pool for England's beach soccer team:

I'm sure being part of that team would be quite lucrative with sponsorships and such, but hey Chad, How about taking your band to the Philippines, kickin' it in the beaches of Cebu. Sign up for a UFL team and take that lethal leg of yours and tryout for the national team again? Sorry i missed ya' but would love to see you again...

For the first time.

Thanks to usapangfootball.proboards.com; stellarboy for convincing me to write something about Chad; jonnys blog for the lineup.
