Stephan Schröck and SpVgg Greuther Fürth wins with 10 men!

MATCH REPORT: Stephan Schröck/SpVgg Greuther Fürth/2.Bundesliga, Germany(2nd Tier)

Dec 21 2011(DFB Cup) Nürnberg  0-1  Greuther Fürth

Playing an away game in front of 48,000 hostile fans with only 10 men, a one goal lead and snowy condition, Stephan Schröck's Greuther Fürth pulls out a 1-0 win to advance in the DFB Cup's first knock out round. An early goal by the cloverleafs left mid(15') was all the scoring that was needed by Greuther Fürth as they kept former multi time champion Nürnberg scoreless in the 1st half.

It was a chaotic 2nd half for the cloverleafs as they suffered a total of 6 yellow card with one finally resulting in a red card at the 66th minute. With 10 men on the pitch Greuther Fürth again managed to blank the 1.Bundesliga team and score a convincing win to advance further into the DFB Cup competition.

Stephan Schröck played the entire match and remains a vital cog in this(2.Bundesliga) winning season. They are in second place and separated with the top ranked team by only 2 points.

The DFB Cup is considered as the second most important national title(after the 1.Bundesliga championship) in German football. Participation is limited to all 1st and 2nd tier teams in Germany, some 3.Liga teams and winners of Regional Cups.

Nürnberg is a 4 time winner and 2 time runner up. Greuther Fürth has never won or placed second in the DFB Cup.

Next fixture(Friendly): Jan 15 2012 an away game against Augsburg, a 1.Bundesliga team currently in 17th place.
