Juan Luis Guirado's Racing Lermeño continues a spectacular run to relevance as they tie one of their groups powerhouse teams. The team had started out very badly hovering with the very worst team in the group and has only turned around its play in December. Things have continued to change for 2012, the team only lost once in 6 games and continues its steady climb.

Against fourth place Real Ávila, Racing Lermeño would score at the 11th minute, 1-0 for the home team.

The tying goal would be made at the 62', the score 1-1. Real Ávila, despite being the better overall team, could do no more as Racing Lermeño would hold on for the tie. They now are at 12th place in the 21 team group 8 Tercera Division.

Juan Luis is currently with the Philippine national team training camp in the United Arab Emirates. They just had a training/friendly against the highly ranked Uzbek Olympic team(U23). They lost 3 to 0. In my opinion, he played well considering his very short time with the team and should improve with more practice games with top notch competition. He will be counted on to anchor the center back position in the AFC Challenge Cup in March.
