DENIS WOLF'S 1.FC Magdeburg loses a close one against Regionalliga minnow Energie Cottbus II

MATCH REPORT: Denis Wolf/1.FC Magdeburg/Regionalliga Nord, Germany(4th tier)

Feb 18 2012  Energie Cottbus II  1-0  Magdeburg

Things are going from bad to worse in Magdeburg as Denis Wolf's team loses to the bottom ranked team in the Regionalliga Nord, Energie Cottbus II, the former team of Filipino German Nagold Cup star Patrick Reichelt. The match started out well with both teams looking crisp on offense, yet neither team could find the back of the net. Patrick Bärje a new player picked up during the winter break was the only Magdeburg player to have a very good chance to score but was eventually denied. The half ended at 0-0.

The beginning of the 2nd half was disastrous for the visiting Magdeburg team. A penalty was awarded to the home team at the 46th minute score, 1-0 for Cottbus II. Chances were had by Magdeburg through free kicks and long shots at goal but the teams offensive ineptness showed once more. The game ended with a 1-0 loss against a very beatable team.

1.FC Madeburg is 16th in the 18 team Regionalliga Nord. Their season record stands at 3 wins 8 ties and 7 loses. Although their defense is 4th in the league, their offense is the most inept with only 13 goals scored in 18 games!

Denis Wolf who is a regular starter was not in the game roster.

Next fixture: Feb 26 2012 a home game against St. Pauli II, currently in 14th place.
