Being a typical German raised youth, Patrick has been raised playing soccer and in his youth was a highly sought after player. Eventually he would be picked up by FC Energie Cottbus a 2.Bundesliga club(where Stephan Schröck's SpVgg Greuther Fürth plays at). But contrary to popular beliefs, he was not with the senior team but rather with the reserve team FC Energie Cottbus II a Regionalliga Nord(4th tier) team. He was actually in the same league as new Azkal, Denis Wolf.
He was also tabbed by the Philippines to represent the country in the Nagold Cup a youth competition held in the town of Nagold in Germany. Patrick was undoubtedly the star for the Philippine contingent as he managed to score 4 goals in only 3 games. The Philippine contingent, despite only playing together quite sparingly compared to the competition, finished a very respectable 2nd place with a record of 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss.

He was part of the Fil-German contingent that coach Hans Michael Weiss hand picked to represent the Philippines in further youth tournaments attended by the Philippines. Unfortunately in June 2011 while training with the Azkals for the WCQ against Sri Lanka he suffered a "cruciate ligament" tear which resulted in a stillborn career with the Philippine National Team and also would end his career with FC Energie Cottbus II. He was eventually released from his contract in the latter part of 2011.
After the new year, Patrick found himself with a 6 month contract(Jun 30 2012) with TSG Neustrelitz an Oberliga(5th tier) team who competes in the Nordost-Nord division(North east-North). Despite going to a lower tier team, he actually increased his chances to return to the Regionalliga as TSG Neustrelitz is 5th in its league and is competing for a chance to be promoted to the Regionalliga, while FC Energie Cottbus II is 18th and LAST place in their league and is almost sure to be relegated to the Oberliga after the season.
Patrick Reichelt has already started training with TSG Neustrelitz. He played the second half of a training friendly which ended in a blow out win against SV Waren 09. See pictures above and below; He is wearing the RED Energie Cottbus shirt.
Here's hoping Patrick stays injury free and congrats with his finding a new team. Can anyone tell Dan Palami, Patrick is good to go now...
Thanks for this update Wiking! Is there a possibility for this kid ton be included for the AFC Challenge Cup? I surely hope so.
ReplyDeleteWith a 6 month contract, I don't believe so. The Challenge Cup is right in the middle of his contract and I'm sure he would be trying to prove his worth with the team. too bad really, but if he doesn't get extended maybe when we play other games at the tail end of the year he'd be available. It's really doubtful at this time.
ReplyDeleteYeah.. That makes a lot of sense. Maybe Ott is in the same situation since he just got his contract extended till June or July.
ReplyDeleteYes Ott too. At least we are stacked at the mid position specially CM/DM. Lexton is there, Simon Greatwich if he chooses to play, brother Chris Greatwich if he comes down and Jason de Jong.
