MISAGH in Japan to try out for J2 team, TOKYO VERDY

Yes that's Misagh in the picture in Japan taken yesterday. And that statue behind him? Hachi, the dog who waited at the train station for his master(who died) to come back but never did.

But back to serious business. The Philippines favorite Persian, or rather, Filipino-Persian and Global FC standout has been invited by JLeague second division team Tokyo Verdy for a tryout. His tryout begins tomorrow Dec 10 as per Misagh himself. If this tryout of his would end with a contract, this should be the first time that a Filipino player(as far as I know) will ply his trade in the J League. Speaking of J Leagues, Dennis Cagara, who's contract ends in Dec 31 has also mentioned his willingness to play in the J leagues as long as it is in the 1st division. It would be incredible if two Filipinos play in the J Leagues for the very first time in the 1st and 2nd division in the same year! Check this site, I've got something written about his current situation.

Know who this guy in the picture above is? His name is Givanildo Vieira de Souza. Still stumped? They call him "Hulk" nowadays. Yes, the FC Porto(Portuguese Primeira Liga champions) super star was a Tokyo Verdy standout too. In a season Hulk scored 37 goals in 42 games for Tokyo Verdy(2007)! So even if its "just a 2nd division team", they know how to pick 'em.

I knew you'd be curious about their kit, so here it is. By the way this is the 2011 team, with any luck I hope we see Misagh in the team picture in 2012.

Since I'm a stats geek. Here is some team information just so you know the quality of the team Misagh is trying out for: After 38 league games Tokyo Verdy is 5th in the 20 team 2nd division. They have a record of 16-11-11. They have scored 69 goals and have allowed 45. They are currently first in scoring and seventh on defense.

No doubt this team does not need offensive help unless they are soon to loose players through contract ending or they have depth problems in their roster. Either way it will be a steep test for Misagh, fortunately he's got his dazzling speed and a relatively young age to impress the Verdy coaches. Good luck Misagh!!!

  1. The Verdy's kit looks like the 2010/11 home kit of SpVgg Greuther Fuerth! :))
    Anyway, good luck to Misagh!

  2. Good luck! If ever he will get a contract, you are a big loss for UFL but not for Philippine Football team because you will surely gain more experience there and will surely help the Azkals when you comeback to play.
