JERRY LUCENA, versatile veteran presence for Esbjerg fB!

2012-2013 Season Report

Jerry Lucena/Esbjerg fB/SuperLiga/Denmark(1st tier)

Jerry Lucena and his newly promoted team are struggling to prove that they rightly belong to Denmarks premier football league.

To be fair there are two factors why the team is in last place. One, the offensive side lacks a scoring punch which was insufficiently addressed before the season. Second, the unfortunate injury situation of almost the entire defensive side roster. Through it all Jerry has been a steadying veteran presence on the pitch. He has been forced to play as a center back, a lone defensive midfield anchor and his customary center mid position.

Jerry has already been hit with the injury bug hence his lone Did-Not-Play in the teams fixture against SønderjyskE.

To truly appreciate this Azkal "Dream Teamer" also note that he is the oldest player, at 32yo in the entire midfield roster and probably most versatile.

Below are the "games played" so far in the season:

15/07/12  (loss)Esbjerg  2-3  Silkeborg - Started played full 90'
24/07/12  (draw)AGF  0-0  Esbjerg - Started subbed out at 67'
28/07/12  (loss)Esbjerg  1-2  SønderjyskE - Injured, DNP
05/08/12  (loss)Esbjerg  1-2  København - Started subbed out at 66'
14/08/12  (loss)Randers  1-0  Esbjerg - Started played full 90'

Current record: Last place, 12th out of 12 teams(0-1-5)

Note: Jerry Lucena is back to playing his natural position as a center midfielder.Esbjerg runs a 4-4-2 system but when needing a more defensive formation they switch to a 4-5-1. When utilizing a 4-5-1, Jerry Lucena moves on as a defensive anchor.

Did you know Jerry Lucena was Esbjergs "player of the year" for 2005/2006?
