MATCH REPORT: Dennis Cagara/FSV Frankfurt/2.Bundesliga, Germany(2nd Tier)
Feb 4 2012 MSV Duisburg 1-2 FSV Frankfurt
Feb 4 2012 MSV Duisburg 1-2 FSV Frankfurt
New coach, new players a nightmare season, no problem! Dennis Cagara's new team, reeling from poor offensive output and even worse defending was busy in the transfer market this winter break, and it paid off. The new coach won in his debut and a new transfer scored a brace to open the 2012 season.
The first half saw FSV Frankfurt open aggressively, keeping possession of the ball the majority of the time. The first goal was scored by the newcomer Ilian Micanski, a player picked up at the same time as Dennis. MSV Duisburg(Roland Muller's senior team) certainly had chances at goal but today Frankfurt's keeper was on point. The half ended at 1-0 for the visiting Frankfurters.
The second half saw the home team even the score at the 48th minute with a superb cross and header connection that Frankfurt's keeper could not reach on time. But unlike last years team, the infusion of new players and a new coach provided the energy to press on. At the 68th minute Frankfurt found the back of the net for the second and final goal. A much needed first 2012 season win for Dennis Cagara's new team.
Dennis was not in the match roster as the coach(Translated), "agreed that it was best that he sat over this fight, so he could get a little closer to his new teammates." It is assumed that he will start against Ingolstadt(Manny Ott's senior team), next weeks match.
With this victory FSV Frankfurt removes itself further away from the relegation zone, they are now 14th in the 18 team 2.Bundesliga. They have a record of 3 wins 8 draws and 9 loses.
Next fixture: Feb 11 2012 a home game against Ingolstadt, currently in 16th place.
