Azkal foreign based players report - September 2012

Here's a quick post-week reader for all you Azkal fans who follow our foreign based national team members.

Neil Etheridge(Bristol Rovers) - After a quick announcement by Fulham, Neil was shipped to League 2(4th tier) English outfit, the Bristol Rovers who are currently languishing at 23 of the 24 team league. Neil's presence quickly produced some acceptable results as they had their first cleansheet of the season after 7 league games. Next up for "The Gas" is an away game against powerhouse and current 3rd placer Exeter City on the 29th.

Dennis Cagara(Karlsruher SC) - It's been a yoyo season for the 3.Liga(3rd tier) team. Karlsruher had a good run about a week and a half ago but are now beginning to fall deep in the league table. They are now 2-5-3 and 14th place, even worse Dennis last showed up in the game lineup in 2 Sept. but did not get to play. Next up for KSC is a home game against bottom feeding Rot-Weiß Erfurt on the 27th.

Stephan Schröck(TSG Hoffenheim) - All the International players this 1.Bundesliga team signed in the off season seems to have not made the impact they wanted it too. After 3 league games the team has surrendered 11 goals while only scoring four. Stephan played once and was red carded, to top it all off, Tim Weise their prized off season aquisition and starting GK is injured and will be replaced by a 20 year old from their youth team! Hoffenheim is 18th, dead last and will be playing against Hannover 96, the 3rd place powerhouse of the league! The next game is tonight, the 23rd.

Manny Ott(Ingolstadt II) - Manny's Regionalliga Bayern(4th tier) team has definitely been an up and down outfit. It's either win or lose for them the past few weeks. The bad news is that the past week brought them down to 15th in the 20 team league, the good news is that Manny has played in 10 out of 13 league games and remains a starting mid for the team. The team record stands at 4-3-6. Next up is a home fixture against bottom rung Augsburg II on the 29th

Jerry Lucena(Esbjerg) - Jerry's 1st tier Super Liga outfit enjoys the 12th and last place position at this time with their 1st win of the season coming a little over a week ago. Jerry is a lock at center mid having played 8 games out of 9 and only missing one due to a minor injury early in the season. The next game is against the league #2, AaB, on the 25th. They currently hold a record of 1-3-5.

Juan Luis Guirado(Racing Lermeño) - Not a good start for the season as Juani's Racing Lermeño(4th tier) only has 1 win in 4 games(1-0-3). He remains a starter but will again be leaving the team for a stint with the Azkals in Early October. This might be delayed if he is injured worse than expected as he missed the last game. Next up is a game tonight against Burgos currently 3rd in the league.

Angel Guirado(Salgaocar FC) - The season has not yet begun for this Indian League 1st tier team but they are in the midst of an undefeated two game winning streak in their "Federation Cup" campaign. It is unclear if Angel played the first game(READ HERE ) but he scored an early goal in the second game. Next up is against Pune FC on the 24th. They are the current champions of the Fed Cup.

Ray Jónsson(Grindavík) - End of season. RELEGATED! Read more HERE

Oliver Pötschke(BFC Preussen Berlin) - Former Long Teng Cup 2011 starting center back remains a starting fixture for his recently relegated team. It looks like they have a chance to battle back to their old "Berlin Liga" as they are looking like a powerhouse this season. They are 2nd in the 16 team league with an undefeated record of 4-2-0. It is a long season though.

Paul Mulders(ADO Den Haag) - Pauls Den Haag is in a very respectable 7th place yet a game tonight against 3rd place and always dangerous Ajax might be too much of a challenge. The team was last years lower midtable team but has shown spunk and energy despite only journeymen recruits in the last off season. Unfortunately for Paul, it may seem that the coach has other plans for him. At least he'll be "available" for the Azkals.
