It's official, the 24 year old Roland Müller is the number two goal keeper for 2.Bundesliga outfit MSV Duisburg. From an interview, assistant coach Sven Beukhert has commented that Müller will be number two keeper after starting goal keeper Felix Weidwald. The 22 year old phenom was a great surprise for the Zebras last season and was voted by fans as best goal keeper of the entire 2.Bundesliga and also MSV Duisburg's player of the season.
The move was made easier when former starting keeper Florian Fromlowitz was made available for transfer and the team deciding to keep Roland in his stead.
Beukhert also said that Müller will continue to play with the recently promoted Duisburg U23 team to keep his edge sharp on the pitch. Roland was a big part of the Duisburg U23 teams successful campaign last season as they finished 3rd in the NRW-Liga(5th tier), good enough to be promoted to the Regionalliga(4th tier). He played roughly half of the games alternating with U23 and now 3rd goal keeper Marcel Lenz. You may read more HERE .
Beukhert continued that the three keepers in the roster "do a class job". While this is indeed great news for Roland, this bodes ill for his Philippine team and fans. With only three goal keepers for both the senior and youth team(last season they carried four), it will now be harder for Roland to attend none FIFA game dates for the Azkals.
