MATCH REPORT: Jeffrey Christiaens/KM Torhout/Third Division League, Group A, Belgium(3rd tier)
Feb 26 2012 Racing Waregem 0-1 Torhout
Feb 26 2012 Racing Waregem 0-1 Torhout
Jeffrey Christiaens' KM Torhout has put together a 3 game streak that has earned them 7 points to quietly lift them to respectability in the Belgian 3rd division. The first twenty minutes of the match was an ugly affair as neither team could put out any meaningful offense. Things would be better after when both teams began to put together better series' of passing and attack yet it was far from good, efficient football. The first half ended tied at 0-0.
The second half began with the visiting KM Torhout making adjustments in its lineup. Quite fortuitous, as the newly subbed in Thomas Depoorter, a reserve/youth team defender, managed to find the back of the net, while in a crowd, making it 0-1 for the visitors. The rest of the match would be back and forth but Torhout would hold the lead until the very end, a great win for the visiting team.
Torhout has not lost in 3 games. they are slowly climbing out of the relegation zone and is now 12th in the 18 team league.
Jeffrey Christiaens entered the match at the 85th minute and quickly made his presence felt. At the 87' minute Christiaens would receive a great cross pass that if not for the goal keepers heroics would have been another goal. Since Jeffreys injury, the team has slowly brought him back and we should expect him to gain more minutes as the season rolls onwards. The KM Torhout team website lauded the youth team player Depoorter and Jeffrey as players to watch.
Next fixture: Mar 4 2012 a home game against Bertrix, currently in 15th place.
