The Whites suffered its first loss of the year in an away game against EPL minnow Blackburn Rovers. The match started out quite defensively as both teams struggled to create real goal scoring chances. At the 23rd minute a Red card against the Rovers had them playing with a man short quite early in the game. The Whites could not do anything with the man advantage until deep in stoppage time(48') a free kick awarded to the Rovers at the edge of Fulhams area. The result 1-0 for the home team. The end of a lackluster half for Fulham.
The beginning of the 2nd half, the Whites where stunned again. The first offensive action of this half resulted in a short range goal by the Rovers. 2-0 for the home team. Fulham would fire back with a 56' goal from striker Damien Duff. With the home fans clamoring for more, the Rovers, playing with a man down sealed the win at the 79th minute as they made the score 3-1 for the unbelievable win for Blackburn Rovers.
After Fulham drops to 14th place while Blackburn rises from last place to 17th.
Neil Etheridge remains the 2nd goal keeper.
Next fixture: Jan 21 2012 a home game against Newcastle United, currently in 6th place.
