Fulham faced off with EPL elite, Arsenal and emerges victorious in Craven Cottage! Though the Whites still have problems with having reliable strikers, they nevertheless took advantage of what the Gunners offered them.
The match started out with both sides eager to score first and the Gunners did so at the 21st minute from a close ranged header which beat the new starting goal keeper, David Stockdale, 0-1 Arsenal. There were more good attempts by Arsenal yet Stockdale would be equal to the challenge. Before the half time break, Fulham regained its composure and had a few dangerous attempts at goal.
The second half saw the Whites more threatening at goal and Arsenal began to establish a more defensive posture. Finally as Fulham was aggressively going for the tying goal an Arsenal player received his second yellow card of the game at the 78th minute which gave Neil's Fulham a man advantage with 12 minutes to go in regulation time. They did not have to wait long as they scored 7 minutes later, the score a 1-1 tie. With more time available Fulham remained relentless in attack and finally scored the game winner deep in injury time(92'), a 2-1 win for the home team!
Within the last 5 league fixtures, Fulham has drawn against Chelsea and Norwich City, defeated the Bolton Wanderers and Arsenal with its only loss coming from Manchester United. They climb up one rank and regains 13th place in the 20 team English Premier League.
Neil Etheridge remains the second goal keeper.
Next fixture(FA Cup): Jan 7 2012 a home game against Charlston Athletic FC, a League One team and currently 1st place.
