2011/12 End of Season report: Paul Mulders and ADO Den Haag

JUST MISSES RELEGATION! Paul Mulder's ADO Den Haag had a horrendous last quarter with their last five games going down in defeat. In this same time frame their opponent scored 15 points on them while they themselves only managed a poor five.


The team, finished the season 15th in the 18 team Dutch premier league(Eredivisie) with perennial powerhouse, Ajax taking first. "The Hague" had an 8-8-18 record. They scored 38 goals, third lowest in the league and allowed 67, fifth worse. To make matters worse, long time defender and arguably ADO's best player, Christian Kum has left the team.

ADO Den Haag has picked up close to a dozen free transfers yet half are early 20 year olds and the others are undistinguished veterans. The journeymen pickups might be enough to get the team to the middle echelon of the Eredivisie but I wouldn't count on it.


Paul has been an on again off again substitute for ADO but nonetheless he has been playing numerous games with their youth team(after coming from his minor injuries in the season), even scoring a goal and other exhibition games such as in their teams 90th anniversary celebration game(none league). He was also released by his team to be able to play with the Philippine Azkals in its March campaign for the AFC Challenge Cup where he proved to be a calming presence in the center midfield as a starter. A technically gifted player, his play on offense and defense propelled the upstart team to a historical third place finish in the tournament.
