Stephan Schröck's SpVgg Greuther Fürth regains 1st place in the 2.Bundesliga!

MATCH REPORT: Stephan Schröck/SpVgg Greuther Fürth/2.Bundesliga, Germany(2nd Tier)

Feb 12 2012  Greuther Fürth  5-1  Paderborn

The Cloverleafs took a chance on an old and injured warrior during the winter break and they have been proved right! Aging former German national player and 1.Bundesliga castoff Gerald Asamoah was given a starting slot and quickly returns with a vengeance scoring a brace in just a half of play. Though initially the home team was surprised by an early goal via a lazy cross, 0-1 at the 5th minute for the visiting Paderborn. From there the home team started to assert itself, after only a minute, new pickup Asamoah kicked in his first goal in his first start for the Cloverleafs, the score tied at 1-1. Not more than 5 minutes later a deflected ball made it 2-1 Greuther Fürth. The last first half goal was made by Asamoah as he camped near the goal to easily make the score 3-1 at 45'+1'.

The second half continued the dominance of the Cloverleafs as Canadian player Occean scored at the 47th minute to become Greuther Fürth's leading scorer(tied with another), the score 4-1. The Cloverleaf players showed their obvious fitness as they outplayed and out matched the reeling Paderborn players. Greuther Fürth easily contained what ever offense the visitors could muster. For good measure, a final goal was made by the home team 10 minutes later. The final score, 5 to 1 Greuther Fürth, now at first place in the 2.Bundesliga.

Stephan Schröck continues to be part of the teams starting XI. He subbed out at the 75th minute.

Next fixture: Feb 19 2012 an away game against Ingolstadt, currently in 16th place.
